Uh...

What? but... and.... why...? Well, go for it, but I'm giving you a low score until I see chuck norris, mario, solid snake, mewtwo, or captain america in this. But you get an automatic 10 if you can put in psycho mantis with "psycho-kineeeeesis."

That aside, expand the background if you're going to simulate shake-y cam like that so we don't see the cerulean oblivion. Also, don't make a "power-up" animation for someone unless you have all the sprites for the power-up. I'd also strongly suggest studying other all-out-brawl type movies for choreography of the fights itself. It didn't really feel like a real fight, so much as a pillow fight where no one really wants to break a nail. Show some carnage, show some aggression.

Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaally corny. I hate you so much right now sir. I got all pumped and happy about how awesome this was until that last line.
Why? Really? Is that seriously all that you could come up with?
Ugh.
But, minus the terrible ending line... good 3D animation, great emotion, camera-play, and the music had a great effect on the overall tone. Mercury eh? Ban your writer from ever making a character say something like that again and you got gold, sir. Unless said character dies in an ironic way. Then you have comedic gold.
Kudos.

A ray of hope.

I am kicking myself for having missed this on my little lurks through NG. I knew you could do much better, and Salty Swamp is proof. After watching the first episode, I got pumped, hoping to see you continue it. It's an interesting story, cute, colorful characters, and a new surprise around every corner. Rather well animated, I can't find anything to complain about, and had to smirk at the fact you're using tracks from the Banjo-Kazooie soundtrack. It fits well, but thankfully the characters don't follow behind the game.
Which brings me to how depressing it is to hear you've lost your motivation. You're a talented animator, and it would be sad to see that another skillful artist abandoned their dreams, ideals, or hobbies when they have so much potential. Good luck Shaun, and thanks for pointing this out to me; yet another rare shine of brilliance on NG.

Blordow responds:

I hope to continue the series. It's probably my proudest work. I think it has a lot of potential myself. Thanks for the review, it gave me some inspiration!

Aeria games is at it again...

To be fair, and to begin, I hate Dreams of Mirror Online, and I hate what you've decided to do here on Newgrounds. It's nice and all that you want to showcase what the company has produced in order to advertise the game; just I don't think it really should be on newgrounds. But, I can't hate on an animator's work because of my dislike of the company I encountered that's attached to it.

That aside, the actual short was cute, I have to say I liked it. The animation was smooth, the concept was amusing, and you can't help but love the little sprite. Was that a Sylph as his "Final boss?" Always thought they were kind of spooky.

Although, there is one last critique I find with this movie, especially because it was company-produced.... Could you please post the names of the artists/producers of the music you used at least? Or are they at the end in the movie in... Chinese is it? I'm certain the Mario effects was a cover, but the track used from Linkin Park, and the Inuyasha soundtrack? But its a very minor pick.
Good job, and good luck with DoMO!

Congrats

Good job on the animation, it was an interesting style, and thoughtfully timed. But, there is some weird error going on with the preloader where you can hear Cartoon Heroes and some other song blending together. Rather unnecessary, I love Cartoon Heroes, but you don't need a pre-loader song, it was more irritating then it was entertaining. The animation also could have been smoother, it looked a little jagged.

Other then that though... cute, and keep practicing.

ShugurShock responds:

yes the song was an error :/ i ment to take it out entirly untill the flash was done loading....

Got a few pointers;

But it was actually pretty well done, it looks like an anime opening for an original series. Kudos. A bit heavy with the Hare Hare Yukai influence, but hey, I love that dance.

As for everyone bitching about the black screen: Be patient. If it didn't load after what a 10 meg movie usually takes for you, then refresh, your load errored. It's Newgrounds, it happens. Don't blam her for your computer being ass, or the server hiccuping. :(

Anyway; pointers.... considering its length, that was actually pretty sad for a 10 meg movie. Still cute though, and worth a bit of a watch. Have you thought of taking a shot at flash? It's expensive to buy, but most people on NG don't buy it, they just get the trial and find a key.

The watermark: Annoying as all hell. If you can, please move it to a corner. I've never messed with this "avs4you" thing though, so I don't know if its possible. again, flash is a great alternative, even though I hate Adobe for buying them out.

The art itself: Kudos, blurry though. Jpeg'd? I like your style, the character designs, and the color designs. I'm intrigued, are these just random OC's, or is this for a story?

The animation itself: Very, very choppy. I have a feeling you drew each panel, then put them together, right? the motion lines are generally not necessary when it comes to animation. More frames were really needed between each movement. Repeated actions but different characters only work if they have their own unique way of leaving, or you don't drill it to death. The whole jumping into the background was cool for the first 3 times, same goes with the same dance moves. Might've been better with the dance if you added more characters to the dance as it went on, dancing with her.

I did love the general concept of it, and it was interesting, but there's room for improvement. Gave ya a 5 to counter anyone blamming you for the loading issue, I would've given you a 3 otherwise.

Good work never the less, and hope you don't take this review too harshly, never stop animating raveniga! and good luck on your next movie!

An American with a wannabe-style of manga and anime. Like THAT hasn't been seen before! :D
